“All war represents a failure of diplomacy”

Diplomacy is defined as a primary means that used by states to exert influence over other states. The achievement of every national interest or foreign policy goal depends on its diplomatic activity. Besides, diplomatic activity is one of the most visible aspects of international relations. Therefore, the ability of diplomats become the main factor. Professional diplomats should be good communicators, since they represent their governments or others international actors as well.

Realizing this importance, Department of International Relations of Parahyangan Catholic University in cooperation with International Relations Student Board will held Diplomacy in Practice 2008 with model of European Union.

Diplomacy in Practice is the annual event aimed to exercise the ability of international relations student in diplomatic activity. They have to practice all international relations theories in one model simulation. They will act like diplomat, participate in international meeting, communicate, and negotiate their national interest one another before and during the session, which in this context is the European Union. Moreover, the main goal of this event is to bring the students closer to practical diplomatic world.

Throughout Indonesia, Diplomacy in Practice is the one and only subject of International Relations that is simulated only by students of Parahyangan Catholic University (UNPAR).
